Jalan Bunga Raya, BM @ Abang Is’ Malay Fried Koay Teow

Malay Noodle : Malay Fried Koay Teow
Address        : Jalan Bunga Raya, Bukit Mertajam 14000 Pulau Pinang.
Contact No.  : 017-5666070

There is another famous fried koay teow in Bukit Mertajam is the Malay Char Koay Teow or also called Koay Teow Goreng Basah. Usually when people talk about char koay teow in Penang, automatic will relate it with the Chinese Teow Chew. But this is a Malay version and the char koay teow in wet.

Abang Is’ Malay Fried Koay Teow’s ingredients have koay teow, beansprouts, egg, lots of cockles (si ham) and huge sized fresh prawns. The many cockles and prawns are the main stock to the koay teow’s tastiness. From the looks it may seem like in tomato sauce, because of the gravy’s color. But in fact it’s sweet like the seafood’s sweetness. A normal plate costs RM3 and comes with 4 big prawns!

The history of this stall used to be a small pushcart handled by two guys only. The good business has helped it to grow up into a small restaurant which opposite the Bukit Mertajam’s post office, it’s pink. Or just beside the old court house next to the Telekom Malaysia.

Business hour: 6pm -4am (Rest on 13th & 14th each month)
